Third Sunday of Easter - Blessing of the Crops

Posted on 5th May, 2019

Today we had our annual procession around the monastery grounds with the blessing of the crops, trees and flower gardens. The sister leading the procession carried the procession crucifix in the front, while the others followed in pairs, chanting the special litany that was led by two cantors. Mother Prioress brought up the rear with an assistant holding the holy water stoop for her. As she went, she sprinkled holy water on the vegetable patches, fruit trees, flower beds, seedlings and young plants in pots and asked for God's blessing upon them. The older sisters met us at the end in the conservatory where we said the final prayer.
